Watching Agneepath was worth the money, mainly because of two people’s powerful performances – Hrithik Roshan’s serious and silent version of the angry man, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and Rishi Kapoor’s menacing Rauf Lala act. This wasn’t the first time the favourite lover boy of the 70s and 80s played a villain though. A few years ago, in Vashu Bhagnani’s film Kal Kisne Dekha, Kapoor played a baddie but it wasn’t well received by the audience. So when Rishi Kapoor read and heard that people can’t stop gushing over his villainous role in Agneepath, he is a bit upset. At the press meet to celebrate the success of the film, he jokingly said, “I have been working for 40 years, but on one never said anything (about his acting skills). But today I turned a pimp and everyone thinks I did a fabulous job!”

Yes, it’s true that during his reigning times his success was overshadowed by Amitabh Bachchan’s angry man acts, but lately he has been sweeping awards at last. In the recent past, Rishi won awards for the role of a stereotypical Bollywood producer in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance and the middle class father’s role in Habib Faisal’s Do Dooni Chaar. We are sure that RK will win another trophy for being Rauf Lala too. By the way, chinwag is that though Kapoor’s villainous act is widely-appreciated, he isn’t keen to repeat it. We agree with you Chintuji. We would love to you in a different avatar in yet another interesting role. What’s the point of getting stuck doing the same kind of roles, right?
