Pappu doesn't quite work saala! Fails to entertain or leave any impact on the audience. Watch it only if you are big fans of Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak's antics. - Mansha Rastogi    Fri, 16 Dec 2011 The motley group of Saurabh Shukla, Vinay Pathak, Rajjat Kapoor and Neha Dhupia has always been the proponent of content based films. Tackling one satire or another in their small budget films, the group slowly created a niche in the industry and also an audience that would eagerly look ahead for their film. This time around too the Motley group comes up with an interesting plot of odd couples. Whether this time around their film works or not let's find out.

Vidyadhar Acharya (Vinay Pathak), a man with values who just moved to Mumbai from Benaras and finds it hard to adjust to the bustling city. He takes an apartment in the sales tax colony where Mehek Malavde (Neha Dhupia) is his neighbour. She is a loud, brash and brazen chorus dancer in Bollywood trying to earn a name and a living. One day the sales tax department raids the colony and Mehak gets evacuated from her apartment. Vidyadhar heaves a sigh of relief after finding the proceedings but his happiness vanishes the moment he reaches home. Mehak occupies Vidyadhar's apartment and they decide to live together after a lot of fighting.

The film could've made for a very interested watch had it been for a better writing as the plot had enormous scope for humorous tittle-tattle between the two opposite characters. However, writer-director Saurabh Shukla fails to seize the opportunity and ends up with a predictable plot that drags beyond tolerance. The story goes around in circles with needless complication thrown in to elongate the plot.

Both Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia looks comfortable in their parts and do a decent job but could've given pleasant or rather entertaining performances had the storyline aided their characters. Rajjat Kapoor makes a customary entry in the film and doesn't quite contribute to the plot in any manner. Gets completely wasted. Naseeruddin Shah is forcefully added to the cast and much to the annoyance is horribly wasted with a small inconsequential role.

Over all, Pappu doesn't quite work saala! Fails to entertain or leave any impact on the audience. Watch it only if you are big fans of Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak's antics.
