Like every year, the Mukherjee family in full mood enjoyed the five days of Durga Puja. They are closely associated with The North Bombay Sarbajanin Durga Puja Charitable Trust. It is a family tradition that the Mukherjee family member serves prashad to the devotees. Rani Mukherjee dressed in purely Bengali style with saree, highly ornamented with big red bindi served prashad in her own hand.
During the puja week, Rani Mukherjee’s father suffered from cold and flu. As a result, the family did not take any chances.
Says her brother Raaja, "He was still extremely keen to visit the pandal. We did take him for a very short while on one of the days."
On the last day of the Puja, Rani danced with her friends. She played with sindoor and danced and sang with her family and friends choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and childhood friend, television actor Rupali Ganguly while her mom watched from a distance.
On the concluding day, Rani thanked all who turned up for the Puja and making it memorable. “It’s been a wonderful puja this year. I thank all the people of Mumbai who have taken time out to visit our puja. It’s been a roller-coaster ride for the whole family and I can’t say how much we are grateful to all the devotees. It’s really been a wonderful feeling to feel the love that everybody has showered upon us. I feel next time the puja will become even more bigger and better,” says Rani.
