Bollywood star and Samajwadi Party leader Sanjay Dutt on Wednesday alleged that his father Sunil Dutt died because of the Congress as he was hurt with the induction of former Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam into the party against his wishes.
"My father died because of Congress...they (Congress) did not listen to him, such a senior leader... and took Sanjay Nirupam in Congress, the man who accused him, the man who abused him when he (Nirupam) was in Shiv Sena. He died because of that," Dutt told NDTV.
He said that his father had revealed this to him four days before he breathed his last. "He spoke to me four days before he died. The only hurt he was having was this. He told me they (Congress) have killed him," Dutt said. The actor-turned-politician said he did "not believe in Congress policies."
Asked to comment on the association of her sister Priya Dutt with the Congress from which she is an MP, he said, "To be with the party, which killed her father...that is her choice."
Seeking to put the blame on Congress for his long detention, Dutt said, "I have been prosecuted for last eighteen years. If you look at the track record, when I went to jail, Congress was in power, when I got bail Congress was not in power and when I was re-arrested Congress was in power."
