Rough & tough, Nandana...

It's hard to believe but true. Nandana Sen who's been trying hard to get commercial roles in Bollywood is doing something dramatically different this time around.

She has actually flown up on a mo-bike and speeded from the rooftop of a 30-storey building right onto the top of an adjacent skyscraper for her latest role. This probably is one of the most dangerous stunts ever performed by a female actor in any part of the world.

She says the movie in which she stars opposite Vivek Oberoi is a cross between 'Lara Croft' and 'Charlie's Angels'.

She talks about the movie directed by debutant Kukkie Gulati, "I suffer from vertigo. They said I don't have to do it. They were willing to use a body double. But I'm glad I took the leap. It helped me to overcome my vertigo. I knew how to ride a bicycle. So learning to ride a mo-bike was not that hard. But it wasn't an easy thing to speed across from one 30-storey building to another. Our action director Alan Amin was fantastic. I flew across one building to another. It was liberating.It's a very 'Matrix' like look and role. I enjoyed the stunts immensely. And this role was a complete antithesis to what I play in Ketan Mehta's 'Rang Rasiya'. It was wonderful to take up such a challenge."

She says she had to learn martial arts, gun-firing, mo-bike riding, kick-boxing, Tai-Kwando and shoot guns for real as she prepared for the role. The 5 kgs she had gained for 'Rang Rasiya' was quickly lost while playing an undercover cop.

Incidentally she says she didn't really try hard to bag the role despite having an art actress image.

She informs, "I'm not very good at lobbying for roles. I just got a call from Tips. I think the director Kukkie had seen and liked my work."

She's happy that she didn't suffer any major injuries in spite of the dare devil stunt unlike 'Rang Rasiya' where she got a broken rib while dancing and caught fire also.

Interestingly now she feels strong and is happy that it changed her body language and psychological approach to crowded places.

Next up for Nandana is a comic act in Vicky Chopra's 'Seasons Greetings' where she plays a fun character. She's shooting for the same in Cape Town again!

Looks like Nandana's life isn't bland anymore. We wonder if it will actually help her insipid B-Town career too!
