Wanna know why Hema Malini won't release her daughter Esha Deol's comeback vehicle and her production Tell Me Oh Khuda on January 14?
Because of the other film releasing that week: Yamla Pagla Deewana. TMOK will now release on a later date.
Crucial move
YPD is the family's film, too. The film is crucial to the careers of her stepsons, Sunny and Bobby. Also, husband Dharmendra stars in both films.
He broke a self-imposed rule of not being seen on camera with his daughter and played Esha's father in TMOK. However, YPD is top priority, and so he requested Hema to push her film forward.
Candid to the core, Hema doesn't deny that one 'family' film has made way for another. She says, "We were supposed to release Tell Me Oh Khuda on January 14. But Dharamji is coming with his film on that Friday.
So we can't have both films on the same Friday, can we?" She hastily adds, "Besides, we won't be ready." Wah, biwi ho to aisi!
Fact After director Mayur Puri's ouster, Hema went on a war footing to complete TMOK. She was simultaneously editing and working on the background score to meet her deadline. She can now breath easy.
